Hello everybody. Welcome back to this week's episode of the Main Street Talk podcast, your go-to podcast for all things Walt Disney World related, all the news, and the updates, and the tips and tricks. I am your host, Nick, and as always with me is Joni. Hello
MIC2:Hello everyone.
Nick:So we got some exciting news. I just wanna get right into it. We teased this last week and, We're gonna be given a holiday giveaway this year, and we're just gonna get right into the details of this. So this year, for this Christmas season, we are going to be giving away a hundred dollars Disney gift card.
MIC2:card.
Nick:So to be entered, this is all you need to do. You need to go to the Main Street Talk podcast Facebook page, and the link is always in the show notes. There's gonna be a post, a pinned post on there. It's gonna have a picture of a Disney gift card not to be able to enter into the contest. You must like the page number one, and under that pinned post, the one with the gift card picture. You just need to comment the words gift card. Now do you wanna know how to do an extra entry?
MIC2:I would love to know how to do an
Nick:entry. You can have an extra entry if you tag a friend. No. Uh, in order for that friend to be entered into it, they have to follow the same steps. Okay? Now once your comment is liked your gift card comment, you are entered, you are on the list, okay? And if you tag a friend, you are on the list twice. Okay?
MIC2:So
Nick:have until Saturday, December 20th. At 12 noon central standard time to be entered, and we will announce the winner on the show airing Monday, December 22nd.
MIC2:good. And we'll also put it on the Facebook
Nick:Oh yeah, we'll be on the Facebook page as well. Yes. So we were just excited. We didn't wanna do any small talk, we just wanted to get right into that. So a hundred dollars Disney gift card is up for grabs. Like I said, just go to the Facebook page. The Facebook post will have all this information in it too, and instructions on how to enter. So good luck to everybody. That's exciting.
MIC2:Can I tag you?
Nick:You cannot enter, can. We, I don't know. Can we? Yeah. That's exciting. We wanted to do something
MIC2:Well, we share money anyway, so it doesn't matter.
Nick:We wanted to do something special for thanking you guys for, the entire year. It's, it's been a lot of fun doing this podcast. Yeah. We started it and, we just have more fun doing it, so we just wanna say thank you and hopefully help out with your next Disney trip. Yeah. Or maybe just go on the Disney store and buy a bunch of cool stuff. Mm-hmm.
MIC2:might be able to do some stocking stuffers or
Nick:Yeah.
MIC2:Put it toward a trip or whatever.
Nick:Yep. So, again, thank you for listening all year. So, uh, you wanna get into the news? Sure.
MIC2:Sure.
Nick:All right. Magic Kingdom. Tuesday, December 16th is the only night left available for Mickey's very merry Christmas party. Now we are recording on Sunday. I did double check this right before we started recording, and if you go to the very merry Christmas page, you can't even select a date. That's the only, it gives you one option December 16th. Okay,
MIC2:So,
Nick:So that's it. And this is interesting. This is kind of a preface of what we're gonna talk about later, but Disney World has filed a new construction permit for Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki room in the Magic Kingdom. They have not announced a refurbishment, so the permit is most likely routine maintenance. They have not announced a date or anything like that. Okay, so, so that's it for Magic Kingdom.
MIC2:Hmm.
Nick:And this was big news at Epcot after a couple day closure. Remy has reopened in 2D.
MIC2:Yay. It's actually not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. I was pretty, I was pretty bummed when I heard
Nick:that Yeah.
MIC2:they were taking the 3D away, but
Nick:we, we watched a, a bit of a video. Yeah. Online
MIC2:And it's really not that much. I mean, I don't know, maybe it's different in
Nick:Right. Maybe in person. Right.
MIC2:But it, there was really, there was still a little tiny bit of spinny action. Mm-hmm. But not as, I guess, jerky worky as what it was before. Yeah. Which didn't bother me. But I don't have those kind of,
Nick:sickness issues
MIC2:Who knows what's later on down the road, but I don't have that, um. But it didn't really seem like a whole lot of difference. It wasn't bad.
Nick:Now what I have read about this is the images are sharper. Oh. So.
MIC2:I, it was hard to tell on a
Nick:hard to tell on a video. Yeah. I think you'd have to see it live. If you've been on it, let us know. You
MIC2:Now that you say that, I do remember it being a little kind of distorted. Maybe it's'cause
Nick:there were
MIC2:going just so fast. Yeah. That it was hard to focus in.
Nick:and Yeah. And you have 3D glasses on.
MIC2:all the time. Yeah. Okay.
Nick:a minute to, you know, to, to, um, get used to that 3D illusion.
MIC2:Yep. Okay. Well good. I'm excited to try
Nick:I am too,
MIC2:because I was sure knocking it in
Nick:the you were, you were, you were not happy when I, when I told you
MIC2:messing with my buddy.
Nick:In the gingerbread spaceship Earth display that debuted last year will be back for the 2025 International Festival. The holidays, the display will once again be in commun core hall. So spaceship birthed, gingerbread will be
MIC2:We didn't see that.
Nick:We didn't.
MIC2:we didn't get around all The gingerbreads though. The carousel and different things like that. We didn't get
Nick:and you know what, it was actually, we were there about this time last year. It wasn't up yet actually thinking about it. And um, I still need to get a list'cause they haven't confirmed all the gingerbreads yet. I was just looked yesterday. There's speculation where they're gonna be, but I will have that list as soon as it is confirmed.
MIC2:can only put on. What you know and why not
Nick:until you know. Yeah. I don't wanna speculate and have people running all over the place. Yeah.
MIC2:Don't blame me folks.
Nick:This was interesting. Test Track has been nominated for a Grammy. What? Yeah. Composer Zane. Offend Zane. Yeah. Wow. Okay. Composer Zane Offending, I have no idea if I'm saying that name right. Has been nominated for a Grammy for the composition of opening for the Epcot test track soundtrack. Interesting. Yeah, we're gonna have to listen to that.
MIC2:Yeah, I didn't even know that rides could be nominated. Is this the first time a ride's been nominated for a Grammy?
Nick:That I don't know. But he, he has been nominated. He's a composer. He's been nominated before.
MIC2:I
Nick:for an actual attraction, a ride park. Yeah.
MIC2:cause you always hear of it being movies,
Nick:to be in movies in the winter this year from Disney's Epcot.
MIC2:yeah, right. Strange. And,
Nick:And, over to the Hollywood Studios. That was it for Epcot. Sorry, I kinda lost my place here. The Jingle bell. Jingle bam. Nighttime Spectacular has returned. For the 2025 holiday season at Disney Hollywood Studios. This is the one they do at Hollywood Nights. Okay, so that's back. And the New Year's Eve fireworks at Hollywood Studios will return on December 31st this year. Mm-hmm. The show takes place on the facade of the Chinese theater and will begin at 11:57 PM Don't be late. Don't be late. You there at 11?
MIC2:could watch em anywhere from around the
Nick:you try to come in at 1158, just turn around and walk away. No, that's on December 30, 31st. Sorry. And Hollywood Studios. Disney has filed a permit for the set installation at the Magic of Disney Animation. This is the new, area that's taken over Animation courtyard. Mm-hmm. So, okay.
MIC2:Okay.
Nick:That's it for Park News. We're gonna get into most miscellaneous. Nothing, no, nothing really worth mentioning. Okay. Um, miscellaneous news. This is big.
MIC2:I'm always wondering about Animal Kingdom. I
Nick:I know you are, you're worried about the animals.
MIC2:Okay.
Nick:as part of the upcoming celebration for America's 250th anniversary. Disney World is rolling out a brand new offer just for us service members and their family. It's called Disney Celebrates America Military Salute Ticket.
MIC2:Oh, I like that.
Nick:And it's priced at$499 per person plus taxed. Now this special,
MIC2:I don't like that.
Nick:doesn't
MIC2:sound like a special$500.
Nick:not done. Okay. This special ticket gives eligible military guests access to all four Disney World theme parks throughout 2026.
MIC2:Oh, I love it.
Nick:You spoke a little too soon.
MIC2:Oh, I
Nick:So basically it's an annual pass for$500 for eligible, military guest and their families.
MIC2:you have the eligibility requirements? You
Nick:I don't, I could not find it. No, this was, uh, no, no. This is for eligible military mes. So if you are military and you're a Disney World fan, I would,
MIC2:And is it just for the military personnel? Not their families,
Nick:And their families. Oh, yes.
MIC2:is that?
Nick:Yes.
MIC2:love that. Families as in spouse, or significant? Well, I guess
Nick:I would say spouse and, and kids. Yeah. Children.
MIC2:Ugh. So
Nick:this special
MIC2:way to, go. Disney, I'm clapping. I know you can't right now because the sound is out, but way to go.
Nick:All like I said, all four theme parks throughout 2026. In addition to this, Disney is also offering additional 2026 military deals including a six day par copper for$449 plus tax. If that boils down to$75 a day,
MIC2:I love it
Nick:as well. They have four day and five day price tickets as well. They did not list those prices, but both the commemorative ticket and salute ticket options are valid. January 1st through December 18th, 2026. It will require park reservations. It. There are blackout dates March 29th through April 11th and November 22nd to November 28th. Fantastic.
MIC2:Fantastic. Yeah, that's Nick and I both coming from families of, military fathers. This is 500 hours.
Nick:$500 annual pass. That's, I love this pretty good. Yeah. Because
MIC2:sometimes I think the veterans get, um,
Nick:get Yeah, I agree
MIC2:stuff,
Nick:get
MIC2:I love that. Yeah, I love this.
Nick:I love this. So yeah. That's huge.
MIC2:huge. Okay, wonderful.
Nick:Yeah. And That makes
MIC2:happy. That's Merry Christmas to me right
Nick:That's
MIC2:for the whole year. Yeah,
Nick:But I mean, you think about the six day park hop. For 4 49, you just pay an extra 50 bucks and you can get the annual pass. Yeah. I mean, why not? Yeah. You know, if you even think you might be going back. Yeah, exactly. So yeah, that's huge. And
MIC2:well, I'm sure somewhere's got the requirements and, eligibility requirements and guidelines and things like that because I'm sure they've, Disney's not stupid. They're not going to sell it and then have like a military personnel pass it on to a family member to Yeah. Oh yeah. Pose
Nick:be, it's gonna be locked down for sure.
MIC2:please don't try to abuse it because that's how we get things taken away. Exactly. Like those folks that, with the dash
Nick:da pass,
MIC2:If it gets abused, it gets taken
Nick:abuse it, you lose it. I mean,
MIC2:So please be mindful and respectful and don't don't
Nick:just follow the rules. Yeah. And over at the. Um, I don't know how to say this. Y Lulu Bar and Grill at the Polynesian Village, they're offering reservations for the first time. Online Reservations will open on December 3rd with the earliest available reservation date being December 4th. The restaurant is open from seven until 10. So,
MIC2:Huh?
Nick:and this, who
MIC2:did they serve there? We have not
Nick:I, I don't know. We've never been there. I'm, I'm not even
MIC2:Anybody got any, any thoughts on
Nick:Yeah. Why Lulu? And tell me if I'm saying that wrong. It looks like I'm saying it right, but in the Disney Airport, luggage transfer pilot expands to arrivals on Southwest Flights. Southwest Airlines, starting November 18th. Guests flying domestically with Southwest Airlines to Orlando International. And or staying at select Disney resort hotels can choose to bypass the baggage claim.
MIC2:Mm-hmm.
Nick:Instead, they'll be able to check their luggage at the southwest bag drop area, or ticket counter for direct delivery to their Disney resort.
MIC2:Yay.
Nick:Guests will begin to receive an email about this service this week. Okay. Disney has not confirmed which resorts are eligible, but currently they have this for departures at all the value resorts. Yes. I would assume it's gonna be for the same resorts arrival and departure and
MIC2:whole roundabout.
Nick:Yes. And this is not for the Sanford Airport, this is just for Orlando International, MCO. And I did read side note that things. With flights because of the shutdown, are gonna go back to normal tomorrow.
MIC2:resuming tomorrow? Yes. Okay.
Nick:Okay. They're no more, flights cut due to the
MIC2:November 17th. We're recording November 16th, 25. Yep. Okay.
Nick:And the Cinderella? Yeah, that's huge news. The Cinderella's Dream Castle inspired gingerbread display is now installed at the Contemporary Resort. Oh. With it comes an array of prepackaged snacks, specialty drinks, and merchandise to purchase.
MIC2:Yeah, we
Nick:we saw that one. We did. It's pretty cool.
MIC2:It's gorgeous. I
Nick:I'm gonna go back and see it again. Yeah, that was pretty
MIC2:I could make it, you know, it's only
Nick:like
MIC2:880 pounds of flour. I don't know. I,
Nick:I,
MIC2:I remember reading the, the number of ingredients that it takes to build and
Nick:it's, it's ridiculous.
MIC2:holy smokes. That's a lot.
Nick:And the Santa Claus meet and greet has arrived at Disney Springs. The meet and greet is located at Santa's Marketplace, a building next to Disney pin traders in the marketplace area. Now, guests must join a virtual queue to meet Santa. You can use the My Disney Experience app to join the queue at 9:00 AM 11:00 AM 1:00 PM 3:00 PM or 6:00 PM So Santa, getting that vq if you wanna see him at, Disney Springs. That's it for the news. Okay. I purposely,
MIC2:I have a question. As far as Santa's concerned, last year
Nick:we love Santa.
MIC2:He was outside, and I know he's being moved to the Ariel's area
Nick:Yeah. Hollywood Studios. Yep.
MIC2:But when we were at, was it Hollywood Night? We saw him out.
Nick:Mm, I don't remember.
MIC2:in the open. So he's in a covered area from, from now on. He's not out in the open like that? Or is that just a Hollywood night
Nick:thing? Um, that must've been just Hollywood night.'cause Yeah, during the day he's at, he's in aerial's meet and greet.
MIC2:Santa's a good Santa, like he's he's authentic looking.
Nick:yeah. He's not your mall Santa, nothing against mall Santas. No. And then he's in the parade
MIC2:too, so he's all over.
Nick:over. Yeah, He's a busy man this time of year.
MIC2:he's a fast flying guy, so,
Nick:So, okay, perfect. That's my news. And it was kind of a bit, and I purposely left out the dis the, uh, military stuff because I wanted to get your genuine reaction.
MIC2:I love it. Well, you know how my heart goes
Nick:Yeah. I don't the big.
MIC2:big military animals, elderly babies, like, come on,
Nick:Speaking of baby, if you hear a baby in the background, we are watching our grand baby. Yeah. And he's, he's back there and he's six months old and he's back there cheering us on. Yep.
MIC2:Watching baby Einstein.
Nick:All right, well that's all I have Okay. For the news. Okay, great. So we're gonna move over to Spotlight and I kind of prefaced what we were talking about. Okay.
MIC2:So we're, you did preface this and it's Walt Disney Enchanted Tiki Room.
Nick:The Tiki Room, yeah.
MIC2:And Adventureland. This is our last visit, for Adventureland before we move on to another area of Magic Kingdom. But this show is an indoor animatronic with tropical birds, tiki gods, and colorful flowers that come to life in a swinging South Seas musical extravaganza. Any height requirement? The capacity is padded bench style seating in a circular theater in the round format that has seats for over 100 guests. Really?
Nick:Does it really? Yeah, it doesn't, it doesn't
MIC2:big, does it? Well, I guess if you're sitting like hip to hip
Nick:just right on those benches. Yeah. Yeah. But it still doesn't look
MIC2:No, it doesn't.
Nick:doesn't. huh?
MIC2:Um, no. Lightning lane tight. There is, accessibilities that you can remain in your wheelchair or your scooter audio description, handheld caption and assisted listening devices are available. The duration of the show is about 15 minutes. Uh, the version of.
Nick:version of
MIC2:Walt Disney World opened on October 1st, 1971 as Tropical Serenade. It was later modified and renamed the Enchanted Tiki Room, which at that time was under new management. And then it reopened April fifth of 1998 before reverting to its original show format, August 15th, 2011. So it had a long run of. 2000, what was that, two or 1998 to 2011. Yep. Yeah. So it kind of makes me curious what they're doing with it now. Are they changing it up again or is it because it's been, well, let's see, 2011 to 2025. Well, yeah. So like, what are they doing? Are they,
Nick:I don't know. There was a fire in 2011. That, that changed it to what it currently is. Its original show to, yeah. To what it we see currently, which is more like the original. Yeah. Okay. But yeah, I didn't know there was a fire there until we started researching this. Yeah.
MIC2:Yeah. So, um, what I have for bonus information, and as you're talking about this fire, you may have a little to add because I don't have anything in my notes. As far as a fire is concerned, in this Polynesian paradise, you can sing along with the lively menagerie of exotic birds, flowers, and tiki statues in this jubilant Disney Classic, A Feast for Your eyes and ears. This theater invites you to sit back, relax, and experience the beauty of the South Pacific, with a cast of over 225 choreographed audio animatronic performers. An animation. First features audio animatronic technology that powers the show's performers was introduced to the world when Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room debuted in 1963 at Disneyland Park. So that's the first.
Nick:mm-hmm.
MIC2:Production, the first showing of it when it first, came out. So the groundbreaking technology allowed animators to synchronize movement, audio and visual effects paving the way for other classic attractions. Like it's a small world, pirates of the Caribbean, and Haunt and Mansion.
Nick:Mm-hmm.
MIC2:So that's what I have. So
Nick:So
MIC2:sounds like you might have a little bit of
Nick:additional No, no. I just mentioned the fire. No, that's really, you covered everything I know from watching,, behind the attraction or whatever we were watching that this was, this was Walt's jam. Yeah. He loved this one.
MIC2:Yeah. Well, 225 birds
Nick:Yeah. He, he really, really liked
MIC2:And it is really neat how they have them synced together and to
Nick:know it is,
MIC2:it's been this old of a, of a show. Mm-hmm. And it still performs. I mean, every time I've seen it, there's never been any glitches or anything.
Nick:No. Not noticeable.
MIC2:very, um, it's very, uh, how do I say,
Nick:there's a lot going on. Stimulating. Yeah. There's a lot going on.
MIC2:So, and it doesn't, there's not a bad seat in the house because No. There's birds above you
Nick:to look at no matter where you're sitting at. Yeah, exactly.
MIC2:So I think it's good. And I like the windows, how they look like, volcanic. Yeah. Or like seascapes or ocean views or whatnot outside. So that's pretty cool. But anyway, that's what I have for the enchanted tiki room.
Nick:All right. Good job. We're moving over to Frontier Land next.
MIC2:Oh, we are?
Nick:Yeah. So we just closed out Adventure Land. Perfect. And then we're almost done with Magic Kingdom. We got, oh, we are. We got Frontier Land, Liberty Square, main Street.
MIC2:We have to decide where we're going
Nick:next. Yeah. Where, where are we hopping? We're park hopping.
MIC2:we're park hopping.
Nick:Yep. We'll get through Magic Kingdom first though,
MIC2:For sure, but we don't have a whole lot left to go over with them. So let's jump over to the, movie.
Nick:The movie.
MIC2:Yeah. So we watched this last night.
Nick:We did watch this last
MIC2:had never seen it before last night. Nick had never seen it before last night. And it's a, it's a, it's an oldie it, not a snow white oldie, but it's an oldie. We are talking about Atlantis, the Lost Empire. Yep. And. Just right off the bat before anything else is said. I was not particularly impressed.
Nick:I didn't care for it. I didn't care for it.
MIC2:Yeah. So much so that we did notice that there was a second one and
Nick:we did it popped up on Disney plus. You, you may also like, Atlanta's two, the return of Milo,
MIC2:when I was doing the research on this, it says that there was no follow up movies.
Nick:There's definitely one on Disney
MIC2:Yeah. So I don't know. And we opted not to watch it. It was late and
Nick:We had a baby.
MIC2:didn't have
Nick:our,
MIC2:it didn't draw our attention like some of the others. No.
Nick:And it's disappointing because,
MIC2:just wasn't our style. I mean, it's not like we're into all. Disney, princessy, you know, singing kind of things. But this is more exploration, which is fine. Which is great. The story
Nick:could have, I don't, the movie could have been better. It could have been made better. Right. As soon as. The opening, main character came on. We heard his voice. We were both like, that's Michael J. Fox. Right. And I love Michael
MIC2:he, well, and
Nick:absolutely love
MIC2:you know, you can only, and I'm not doubting because some of these, writers and creators are the same ones that have done other shows.
Nick:They're not all winners.
MIC2:of them are not winners. And in our opinion, and we may not agree with some of the other folks out there that have seen this, but in our opinion it wasn't, um,
Nick:wasn't a winner
MIC2:Anyway, Atlantis, the Lost Empire, came out June 15th, 2001. It's one hour, 35 minutes. The budget, I couldn't even get a straight answer on the budget. It kept giving me a range. Okay. 90 million to 120 million. That's a huge range. Like$30 million to just like, not account for kind of, kind of bizarre worldwide box office pulled 186 million.
Nick:It's not great. Not great. I mean, it's a big number, but not great. But as far as movies go, it's not
MIC2:Correct. But there's reasons for that. There were a lot of movies that it went up. A lot of competition. A lot of competition. Thousand one. Yeah. So that obviously had an an impact. Yeah, I know
Nick:it always does. Mm-hmm.
MIC2:So this one was directed by Gary Trusdale and Kirk Wise, which have been mentioned before, like I said, in other films. And it was produced by Don Hand.
Nick:Hand.
MIC2:It isn't, Based on any direct adaptation of any single book, myth or story, but it does draw in for, inspiration from several sources, both ancient and modern. Disney said that the film, it was conceived as to be a fresh original adventure, inspired by classic exploration, not as an adaptation for anybody's specifics, for anybody's specific works. The, okay, so the princess in here. I don't even know that they really refer to her as a princess, but there's like the chief,
Nick:she's like the chief's daughter. Yeah.
MIC2:So she's noted in Disney, like if you look her up a princess, I don't know how to pronounce her full name, but say her short, they call her Kita. Kita. And her age is expected to be 8,800 plus.
Nick:Really?
MIC2:Yes, because. After watching the movie, what happens is, the crystals that they have are what provide them life. Right.
Nick:Yeah. And it's like ever giving life
MIC2:stay young and whatnot because of these
Nick:Because the, the only time they referenced her age in the movie was. The Michael, the main character, Michael J. Fox. Milo, yeah. Milo had referenced something like, well, that would've made you a hundred something years old. And she said, yeah, that's about right.
MIC2:And she looks really good for 8,800. She looks really good.
Nick:She's pretty for a cartoon
MIC2:Yeah, that's right. So her traits are, she's got quite a few, few traits, a warrior, strong leader, intelligent, curious, determined, brave, selfless, blunt, and compassion. Her nationality is atlantian. And the specific region is within the underground city of Atlantis, which was submerged beneath the ocean thousands of years ago. The film was set in 1914 where Milo Thatch, so he's a linguist and historian who joins Secret exhibition funded by a wealthy benefactor to search for the lost city of Atlanta. And this wealthy benefactor was buddies with Milo's grandfather, and Milo's grandfather had the dream of finding Atlantis and, um, got his grandson into having the same, dreams of doing this. Yes. So Milo and a diverse crew traveled deep beneath the ocean facing dangers along the way. And when they finally reach Atlantis, they discover an advanced but forgotten civilization and secrets about a powerful energy source that could change everything.
Nick:There's
MIC2:side. She doesn't have any sidekicks per se other than Milo. And then some of the crew that, crew
Nick:on the submarine. Yep. Yeah.
MIC2:Yep, that's right. As we said, her father is the king. And then her queen or her mother, I'm sorry, the queen actually in the beginning of the show, they show the heart of Atlantis, which is the, supposed to be the stoned emblems or whatnot. The stone or the heart of Atlantis chose her. So they took her from there. Her spouse ends up being Milo Thatch. There's conflicting, I say no follow-up movies, but we saw one, so I don't know. Take it for what that
Nick:It literally said the, like the name of the movie. Then it said The Return of Milo or something like that.
MIC2:Yep. Yep. So, I don't know. I'm confused about that. But Children, none. It was nominated for several awards, including seven Annies.
Nick:Really? Yeah. That surprises me
MIC2:during the time of computing with like, oh my goodness. I can't think offhand. And I, oh, Dr. Doolittle and Fast and Furious and different big movies that came out at that time. It won Best Sound Editing at the 2002 Golden Reel Awards.
Nick:Okay.
MIC2:It didn't win any of the Annie's from what I could find. And then a little bonus information is though, though it was not successful enough to be included in the official princess lineup, this adventure film inspired by the works of Jules Verney or Vernay was also notable for adopting the distinctive visual styles of a comic book artist. Mike Manola, one of the film's, production designers, the film made greater use of computer generated imagery than any of the Disney's previous, traditionally animated features, which I find hard to believe because their fingernails were
Nick:triangles. If
MIC2:their fingers were boxy. It just,
Nick:animation was not tip top in, in my opinion, like the lion maybe at the
MIC2:of the age.
Nick:Lion King came out before that, and I thought the Lion King had better an animation
MIC2:I mean, their jaw lines were like,
Nick:it was different,
MIC2:degree angles, and there was no smoothness. They were just very
Nick:short, like, not like Minecraft Square, but no, not Minecrafter.
MIC2:True. True. Oh my word. So, let's see, where was I? You got me all, all, all the sorts. So the linguist, mark Ochre constructed an Aunt Linean language specifically for use in the film. So, yeah, which was kind of interesting.
Nick:because they do speak that in the film. Yeah,
MIC2:they do. And they show the writing of it and everything, so, yeah. Which is kind of cool. Yeah. James Newton Howard provided the film's musical score. The box office response was identified as a result of being released in competition with Shrek. That was another
Nick:oh, that was a
MIC2:one. that was out. Laura Croft Tomb Raider,
Nick:All the tomb
MIC2:uh, fast and the Furious, and Dr. Doodle little two.
Nick:Yeah. That's something.
MIC2:That's some
Nick:That's some, uh, yeah. As
MIC2:a result of the film's box Office failure. Disney canceled a planned spinoff animation television series. Team Atlantis also canceled an underwater Disneyland attraction and a Magic Kingdom Volcano attraction.
Nick:Yeah. Well,
MIC2:I think the underwater at attract. I don't know though, would it be like the Little Mermaid and
Nick:I, I, I don't know. I, I don't know. I just,
MIC2:because of it not scoring so highly in the box office in 2001, we have none of these others. So. But, so watch it
Nick:watch it if you want. Yeah. Uh, I don't know. May form your own opinion.
MIC2:I mean, we're watching'em all whether we agree, whether we
Nick:wasn't up on our favorites for sure.
MIC2:Yeah. But that's okay. We watched it, we gave it a, we gave it an
Nick:honest try. We, you may like some that we don't and you know, vice versa.
MIC2:Go. No white. I gotta get my plug in there. Alright,
Nick:All right. Well thank you. That was Atlantis. Yeah, you're
MIC2:Yeah. You're welcome.
Nick:Now onto our tip or trick this week. This is. Important. If you have a Disney World trip planned, especially around Halloween and or Christmas time, check the park hours 60 to 70 days out. I know a lot of people, you know, plan their Disney World vacations, let's say a year in advance. I think that's pretty average. About 60 to 70 days out is when they post their official park hours. So what this is gonna help you do, like I said, especially during the holiday season, the party season, let's say, you know, you have a plan for what days you're gonna do what parks, and that's fine. Go, you know. You, you have to just double check 60 to 70 days out the official park calendars to see what the hours of those parks are gonna be, so that way you can flip around days if you need to.
MIC2:Well, yeah, and even with that said, sometimes those parks can shut down for a paint job for just a couple of days or whatnot.
Nick:Yeah. Well, not for, it would be like a, it'd be a pretty big event. Like a corporate rent out or something. Yeah. They really don't close the parks out, but,
MIC2:well not the parks, but they'll close attractions if
Nick:Attractions. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about a park. I was like,
MIC2:about the whole park. My word
Nick:No, but yeah, so like even, you know, I know McDonald's and other corporations will go in and rent out, you know, Hollywood studios for half a day. Mm-hmm.
MIC2:mm-hmm.
Nick:You need to know that before you go there. So check the park hours because there's nothing worse because you know, you go into a park, that's one day ticket, right? If they close early, they're not gonna.
MIC2:no,
Nick:just, sorry, you know. Sorry. So you have
MIC2:of getting there, let's say eight hours, you're there for four hours. You're paying for the eight hours. Yeah.
Nick:Um, our Uber driver last year, we were going to the park, said that we went during the Christmas season and, she had a family, she had drove a family that was extremely upset because they went to Magic Kingdom on a party day. They did not know it was a party day and they had to leave at six o'clock. Well. You have to,
MIC2:have to do your due
Nick:have to look at those park hours. You don't, don't that much No, Exactly. You've
MIC2:got, I mean, I, you would, I would think you would want to Yeah. Research. Mm-hmm. Because you could potentially be just throwing money out the
Nick:and that's extremely unfortunate, you know, that maybe that was their one Disney trip. Yeah. You know, you never know. But just check those. It
MIC2:Disney, it's a lot of, it's a lot of work. A lot.
Nick:Yes, it is a lot.
MIC2:Mean our first time we, must have watched videos and researched
Nick:did. It's, it's, it's a lot to learn, but once you learn it, I mean it's pretty, yeah. You know, it's just a lot to
MIC2:so glad you're experienced.
Nick:but yeah, check those park hours just can't stress that enough. Especially during the holiday season party season.
MIC2:Okay. Alright,
