Hello everybody. Welcome to this week's episode of the Main Street Talk podcast, your go-to podcast for all things Walt Disney World related, all the news, the tips, the tricks, the updates, the constructions, everything Walt Disney World related we bring to you every week. My name is Nick. I'm your host, and along with me is Joanie, as always.
Joni:Hi.
NIck:A little inside joke just happened. Um,
Joni:Hello everyone.
NIck:So
Joni:I'm here
NIck:today is July, Sunday, July 27th. So everything we talk about today will be current to July 27th. Joni and I have had a very busy weekend. It's late on Sunday night. Uh, we had an engagement party to plan for and Joanie did all the cooking for that.
Joni:I did. Our son is getting married in May, so he is given us 10 short months to. Help with this. And, um, we fed about how many people do you think
NIck:man. Well, 50 rsvp I would guess there was 50 in and out of there. 50 to
Joni:50 to 60. I would, yeah.
NIck:Joni made all the food except for, uh, we bought some chicken at the local, uh, deli.
Joni:Yeah. Didn't wanna have to pull anybody away to do any grilling, so we
NIck:we just, she cooked all day, all night Friday from what, four o'clock till midnight? Yeah. And then woke up Saturday. And it all,
Joni:finished it off.
NIck:everything was delicious. Everybody. Everybody said everything was delicious too. Yeah. I heard many compliments on the food, especially Joni found a new recipe for a potato salad, which is not a traditional potato
Joni:yeah, you grill the potatoes. I've never had a grilled one, but we made it for 4th of July when the kids came over to let them try it
NIck:and there's apple cider vinegar in
Joni:there is apple cider vinegar. And we also as, as we had said on another show, we had. Firework party I
NIck:Yeah. 4th of July.
Joni:and all the neighbors were commenting on that potato salad too. So I knew that was gonna be a hit.
NIck:Yeah, it was really good. Everything was good. So we've had a very busy weekend. I was trying to keep up to date on all the Disney news. I think I got it all, but if I missed anything, please forgive me. Like I said, we were, we were very busy this weekend. So we'll just get right into the news at Magic Kingdom where we always start tickets for the Mickey's very Merry Christmas party are now on sale to everybody. So they always go on sale to resort guests first and then. Seven days later, they start with the general public, so it's on sale for everybody. Tickets this year range from 169 to nine to 229 per person plus tax, depending on the date you go with. This is a slight increase from last year, which topped out at 219, so you're looking at 10 more dollars from the most expensive night.
Joni:more down.
NIck:And at the Mickey's not so scary Halloween party this year, there's another sold out night. So all the sold out nights now are August 17th and August 19th and Halloween night. So August 17th and 19th are the two cheapest days to go. They're both sold out, gone, gone. So Donezo, if you want, if you wanted to get in cheap, you missed your chance.
Joni:Well, it's not that much. I
NIck:No, it's probably, I didn't look at the prices. It's usually like a$10 increase or something. So, uh, and then Halloween night, of course, sells out always.
Joni:every, that's always the first.
NIck:yeah, that's always the
Joni:It's, that's when we wanted to go and we couldn't
NIck:Couldn't get it. Couldn't get it. Yeah. And the main street, USA railroad station is now fully open to guests following a lengthy refurbishment, so that is open to use. I saw some pictures that looked like,
Joni:choo.
NIck:it looked like they used some new flooring, or they put in some new flooring and some fresh paint. So that is up and running and ready to go. Disney has filed a permit to demolish the former Aunt Poly's on Tom Sawyer Island
Joni:for the piston peak.
NIck:For the piston peak expansion. Yes. Perfect. And I did see today, they moved the riverboats. They must be, getting ready to drain the river. Pretty soon because they moved it, it was like, docked, I guess you could say kind of behind Big Thunder. I don't know exactly how the waters way go backstage, but they've moved it further away.
Joni:Mm.
NIck:So, and I did read imagineers are, are figuring out what they want to do with it. So they have, I wonder
Joni:if they, you know what would be really neat is if they, had a hotel, If they had another resort and or placed it on a resort property
NIck:been, that was a
Joni:maybe turn it into, A quick service with sit down or something. You know what I mean? They turn
NIck:into Yeah, they could, that there was a discussion, I don't think by Disney, but by some Disney fans that they should put it over at, um, Riverside. The Port Orleans. Port Orleans
Joni:Yeah, that would be neat.
NIck:Because that's, uh, you know, Mississippi River and, you know. Yeah.
Joni:Yeah.
NIck:Yeah. I never thought they could put a quick surface on there. That'd be, that'd be a great idea. Or a snack or, or bar, anything. Yeah. Yeah.
Joni:have like little, two-seater, like little round tables with. Stools or whatnot placed around, you don't need a lot of'em, but you can have ice cream or snacks and kind of look over the water.
NIck:Yeah. I went on a, in St. Louis when I was little. We went on a McDonald's. They used to have a McDonald's riverboat on the Mississippi. Yeah, it that, yeah, it'd be something like that. It'd be pretty cool. Yeah. But yeah, the good thing about that is that they're moving. It is, people are seeing that as a sign that it won't be demolished. They're still trying to figure out what to do with it.
Joni:that's good.
NIck:So,
Joni:Yeah, because you just said, uh, aunt Polly's, you said permit for demolish.
NIck:Yeah, that's going for sure. And then the Disney Starlight parade, the soundtrack is now available on streaming platforms. So if you're digging that music, you can stream it all day on repeat if you want. I did not see a list of all of the streaming services. I did see Spotify and Apple Music for sure. Um, I didn't see any one other ones listed. So that's it for a Magic Kingdom. This week Hollywood Studios had a pretty big announcement. This kind of blindsided, I think, I don't think anybody knew about this, that I knew of. Like everybody was surprised when this was announced. They're closing the Star Wars launch Bay on September 26th, or 25th or 26th. They're gonna be replacing it with the magic of Disney animation, which used to be an experience at MGM Studios or Hollywood Studios. I'm sorry. The magic of Disney animation was an attraction in animation courtyard from the parks opening in 1989 to 2015, and then it was replaced by Star Wars Launch Bay. The experience will return in 2026 as a place where kids in. Kids at heart can laugh, draw and dream, and explore animated new experiences. The cool thing about this is the updated building they're putting there is gonna have a Mickey Sorcerer's hat facade.
Joni:Mm-hmm.
NIck:gonna look just like the Roy e Disney building in Burbank. So NGM used to have that big Mickey's uh, sorcerer hat in the middle of the park. Well, they're bringing the sorcerer hat back.
Joni:Okay.
NIck:And this is from the Disney Parks blog. It says in 2026, the current home of Star Wars Launch Bay will transform into a place where kids and kids at heart can laugh, draw, dream, and explore animated new experiences. Topping the building will be Mickey's iconic sorcerer hat, just like the real building in California, which will cast a spell with pixie dust. Our story in this newly reimagined space begins as the animators have temporarily stepped away, but the building is still buzzing with activity. As the characters have come to life and they're ready to play inside, you'll interact with and explore silly takes on the iconic Disney animation headquarters, including the many different studio departments, only this time some of our favorite pals have taken over to create the fun adventures. The playful and interactive moments will be found around every corner. You'll see portraits come to light before your eyes, and they did like once upon a studio, you'll find inspiration with a short film, with a twist of course, and you'll even pencil in sometimes to learn how to draw your very own character sketch.
Joni:I would love that. I'm still kind of like, I'm still kind of trying to absorb what you just read, like what all is gonna be happening.
NIck:There was more, I
Joni:that was a mouthful and an earful, but, um, I like, I mean, I'm, I don't wanna say I'm super artistic, but I do like doing stuff like this. When we went to Animal Kingdom, I, really liked going to,
NIck:the drawing class or the
Joni:and doing the drawing class there. And, I try to get Nick to do it with me. He's not much of a artist.
NIck:I I took a power nap in there.
Joni:I didn't at all.
NIck:when her and the kids were drawing, I, I, I found a chair and I took a 15 minute power
Joni:a big chunk of your time
NIck:Yeah, it
Joni:do that. I mean, even just the ride there and then the walk there, and then the walk back and the ride back. But, but I mean, if you got time to burn or need someplace to just kind of relax and in Nick's case, take a nap or, yeah. Being air conditioning. It is really neat. But yeah, the whole drawing that I, I'm gonna like that.
NIck:Yeah, I'm, I'm pretty excited for it. Like I said, there was much more on the Disney Parks blog website about it. Um, they're gonna be a playground over there, and they did say, I believe they're still gonna keep something with, Disney Junior over there. Okay.
Joni:Okay.
NIck:So, so
Joni:so the whole thing's not going okay.
NIck:Yeah, they're gonna incorporate everything. But yeah, I'm excited. I just want, I wanna see like,
Joni:I know what you wanna see
NIck:sorcerer
Joni:You wanna see hat?
NIck:Mickey's my guy Mickey sorcerer. Mickey is my guy.
Joni:gonna buy you a hat
NIck:You mind me ears with the, you know the
Joni:Yes, I know what you look at, you
NIck:look at you.
Joni:fantasizing. Okay, so that's, oh, it says, the 25th that's happening.
NIck:Uh, launch Bay closes on September 25th. Yeah. Yeah. So they'll start, uh, they'll start work on that. Like I said, I think that blind of a lot of people,'cause there's even like bloggers that I followed that were like, whoa, you know, they kept that under wraps. Yeah. In our miscellaneous news for the first time in recent memory, Disney is offering unlimited time special offer for new Walt Disney World annual pass holders. When you purchase a new pass, you'll receive a Disney gift card valued up to a hundred dollars, depending on the pass. So if you buy the in a credit pass, you get a hundred dollars. The Disney sorcerer pass, you get 75.
Joni:Well that one it says it's for Florida residents and eligible DVC only. So that has to be not resale, I'm assuming.
NIck:no, no. DVC resale or not? Not right. You
Joni:Okay, so if you're A-D-D-V-C resale purchaser, this 75 card does not
NIck:Correct. Qualify you. Yep. And then, the$50, or I'm sorry, you get a$50 gift card with the Disney Pirate Pass. That's for Florida residents only. And the$25 with the Pixie Dust Pass for Florida residents only. So this deal applies only to new pass purchases and cannot be combined with renewal discounts or other promotions.
Joni:Up.
NIck:so like she just said that the DVC, that was my. When, when we were going through DVC, that was my biggest hangup with the resale was the, the annual pass. If you buy resale, you don't get the discount, which I don't know, that was my biggest perk. I was like, well, you know,
Joni:yeah, but you have to weigh the, you
NIck:Right. Yeah, no, I know
Joni:know monetarily. Right? Like what? We saved a lot of
NIck:we saved a
Joni:actually going to happen versus what you want to happen. Okay, so basically non-flu residents and non VDVC, straight pa, straight purchase, I don't even know what they're called. What are, what are they called? Retail and what? DVC,
NIck:Resale and, uh, direct members. Direct. Okay. Yep.
Joni:I said straight purchase. I didn't know what they're called or whatever.
NIck:been a long weekend,
Joni:So yeah, it has been, so basically are only eligible for the a hundred dollars one or am I under what's going on here with
NIck:with my right? So the a hundred dollars one, that's the most expensive pass that is for out-of-state residents.
Joni:Okay.
NIck:all out-of-state residents have to buy the, the most expensive pass, which I think is around 15,$1,600. Okay. Um, so I guess if you want to look at it this way, you're getting a discount because you're getting a hundred dollars back. I, I don't know. And you could look at it that way. I mean
Joni:I mean, we've, but, and that's per person, that 1500, 1600 is per person because we've actually looked into it. But for the amount of time that we are able to get off of our, you know, nine to fivers and, actually be able to go, it did not weigh out.
NIck:No. I think
Joni:It wasn't smart for us to do an annual pass.
NIck:Nope.
Joni:You
NIck:I think we would have to, I think we figured out between nine and 10 days of park going and we just, we just won't do that in a 12 month period.
Joni:Yeah.'cause we like to do some cruising
NIck:Yeah.
Joni:Yeah. And we're going to Universal and you know, and then, you know, we could do it, but we could, our jobs don't allow Right. You know, certain, yeah. Um. Overages of PTO and lived
NIck:in like Georgia or something, maybe, you know, somewhere closer. But we're, we're in Illinois. It's, it's a, yeah.
Joni:Okay. That's
NIck:I got for the news this week.
Joni:Oh, all right.
NIck:So it's that time,
Joni:and
NIck:the time everybody's waiting for, what
Joni:time is that? Week five? Yeah.
NIck:Of our growth chart Poster. Giveaway.
Joni:Yeah.
NIck:So I have the list. I'm ready to go When you are.
Joni:I'm spinning.
NIck:are you spinning already?
Joni:I'm, I'm, I haven't hit it yet. Okay, shall I? Okay, here we go.
NIck:spin the wheel. got the list.
Joni:Okay. She's going
NIck:Miranda won last week.
Joni:and we have
NIck:What do we got?
Joni:number five. Ooh. Number
NIck:number five. Who do we got? We have Brian.
Joni:Brian,
NIck:congratulations Brian. You have the numbers five three in your email address,
Joni:Brian with the five three. Brian,
NIck:with the five three. What is
Joni:hit us up.
NIck:So, uh, yeah, congratulations Brian. You are the winner of week five grill chart poster. Woohoo.
Joni:Woo-hoo.
NIck:You are still eligible for the$50 gift card on August 25th. you're not available for another growth chart, we will be emailing you, uh, midweek to get your mailing information so we can get that out to you. Yeah. Congratulations Brian. Congratulations Brian. Thanks for listening. Thanks for subscribing. Yeah,
Joni:Yeah, for sure.
NIck:All right, so Spotlight on attraction this week. We are doing Under the Sea with a Little Mermaid. Do you wanna start or you want me to start?
Joni:Why don't you go ahead and start, because you've got most of the information and then I'll just add too
NIck:Okay, under the Sea Journey of The Little Mermaid is a dark ride in fantasy land at Magic Kingdom. Based on the 1989 animated film, the attraction opened on December 6th, 2012, as part of the new Fantasy Land expansion. The concept for Little Mermaid ride dates back to the early 1990s, but earlier versions planned for. Other parks were canceled. Interest in the idea Resurfaced after a Ride Concept was featured on the 2006 Little Mermaid DVD. The first version of the Ride debuted in Disney's California Adventure in 2011 with a Magic Kingdom version following a year later, using a clamshell shaped vehicle. That's, that's kind of hard
Joni:that's a mouthful. I looked at. You
NIck:Using a clam shell shaped vehicle on an omni mover Track The Ride takes guests through major scenes from the film, including Ariel's Grotto, the Under the Sea, the musical number, Ursula's Layer and Ariel's transformation. The attraction blends, vibrant sets, audio animatronics, and the film's classic music to create an immersive under sea adventure.
Joni:Mm-hmm.
NIck:So that, that's what I got on
Joni:Okay. Well, I have a little to add and I just want to let everybody be clear that even though it's an under the sea, you don't physically get wet. So no need to wear ponchos or.
NIck:no, but
Joni:but you should hold your breath. You should hold your
NIck:You should hold your breath because if you look at the shell in front of you, when uhhuh, you see that you're starting to go underwater.'cause the bubbles start showing
Joni:That's right. Showing up. That's right. So hold your breath, hold your breath,
NIck:hold your breath, hold your breath,
Joni:and then breed like a fish underneath. So anyway, I've got that. There's no height requirement. Um, the seeding capacity is each clam shell. Typically seeds two adults. Cast member may allow a small tile to join as lap sitting is allowed. It is a tier two multipass. It operates, on an omni mover system. So you have to board a moving sidewalk and I don't,
NIck:correct.
Joni:So as far as, accessibility, you have to be able to,'cause this is not when they stop, like they do haunted mansion,
NIck:Oh. I think they'll stop it.
Joni:They will stop it. Okay. So just double check with a cast member to verify that. But, um,'cause I don't ever remember that one. Stopping, like, haunted mansion stops
NIck:just stops a lot.
Joni:stops a lot, um, to let people on and off. So it's a seven minute ride, really. It says seven minutes. Okay. And another, interesting feature is that,, Ursula, if I can get my computer over here, Ursula. The animatronic in there. Guess, guess her, measurements
NIck:how big she is. Um hmm. I'm gonna say eight feet tall.
Joni:Okay.
NIck:Seven feet wide.
Joni:You're close on the, you're close on the tall. Okay. You're way off on the, really on the wide. Yeah. Seven and a half feet tall by 12 feet wide.
NIck:feet wide. Whoa.
Joni:tentacle to
NIck:tentacles.
Joni:Tentacle to tentacle. So, yeah, so that's pretty massive.
NIck:It is a big
Joni:Yeah. Yeah. Seven minutes.
NIck:Yeah. I didn't know that. Yeah, that is very good.
Joni:Yeah. The Q'S kind of cute too. It shows as you're going through, it shows like all her little collectibles that she has reached or she's collected from shore, um, that she hides from her dad.
NIck:king Triton,
Joni:who's very upset that, that she's going to shore. So, yeah, that's what I have to add to, uh, the Little Mermaid ride.
NIck:Another tidbit that I just thought of this, it has the hidden Mickey on Mickey's birthday.
Joni:Oh
NIck:it is under the sea ride. So on Mickey's birthday every year they have it in the queue. There's like some holes in the, um.
Joni:but you had to be standing at the
NIck:have to be the perfect spot at the perfect time. On, on Mickey's birthday every year, November and 23rd. I dunno, Joanie's gonna look that up. Um, but if, if, uh, in the queue, so they have holes in like the cave of the queue. And if you're standing in the right spot at the right time, a hidden Mickey will shine through those holes and appear on. The cave wall, I believe, or the ground. I'm not sure which one.
Joni:I'm not sure either. I, we've not seen it. We've not been there and had the opportunity, but we have seen,
NIck:pictures. Pictures, yeah.
Joni:Um, Mickey's birthday. November 18th.
NIck:Oh, November 18th. Okay. So every November 18th, there's, that's the, hidden Mickey.
Joni:and the year is actually 1928.
NIck:1928. Steamboat Willie. Yeah.
Joni:November t, November 18th, we gotta put that on our calendar. Yeah. I got everybody else's birthday's on there.
NIck:So yeah, that is our spotlight
Joni:Good. Well, you know, and I suppose if they ask if there's a cast member around or if there's another individual or, or whatnot, or look it up, then people might be able to know exactly where to stand, because that is kind of a cute thing to
NIck:the hidden Mickey. Yeah, it's like a rarity. Yeah. I'll, I'll put, um, a picture, I'll put it on the blog, on our website,
Joni:it's almost as if the imagineers had to be out there on his birthday at a certain time. Yeah. In order to construct that. Yeah.
NIck:Yeah. Yeah.
Joni:Then if they miss it, they gotta wait a whole nother year to get it right. Like how tedious,
NIck:it.
Joni:Ugh. I would have like five different sets of eyes out there, like with a video camera to make sure that I got it right.
NIck:Yeah, it is. Um, that's a fun thing that, that they put in that, right. Yeah.
Joni:I love the little hidden stuff like that. So
NIck:So that's, uh, spotlight on Attraction. And we'll go to Joni for our who. We s spotlighting for Princess this
Joni:Oh, let me get to her. We actually, the other night watched, one that's not super popular.
NIck:I had never heard of it, I don't think.
Joni:I'm sure you've heard of it, the Black Cauldron. You've never heard of the Black Cauldron? I dunno. Okay. We're talking about the Black Cauldron ladies and gentlemen, and tonight we are announcing, and I did not know her name. I've never seen any merchandise. She's not featured on. Any kind of thing that I,
NIck:had never heard of her.
Joni:I didn't even know there was a princess in this movie. Princess,
NIck:I Lonely.
Joni:Eloy.
NIck:How did you, how is it, what's her name? Ilon. We Ilon.
Joni:Ilon. We
NIck:ilon, we, yeah. With a w.
Joni:it is spelled E-I-L-O-N-W-Y.
NIck:Ilon. We ilon. Okay.
Joni:So this movie, I mean, it goes into, there's a, a horned king.
NIck:It's kind of dark
Joni:It is. It is a little bit of a dark movie. Yes. And, so there's a, a horned king who wants this black cauldron because it has magical powers and he wants to rise the unli, and whatnot for his army. So anyway, she alone, we has this orb. Or what, for lack of better terms, that, the Horned King thought her to be magical because of this, so he kidnapped her. It doesn't go on to say anything about family members or where she's from or anything like that. She, is 12 years old in the movie. The Black Cauldron was, first, aired July 24th, 1985. It is a one hour and 20 minute. Is directors is Ted Berman and Richard Rich and Producer is Joe Hale. It's based on the Chronicles of Pyridine. Pyridine, P-R-Y-D-A-I-N. There's five novels and this princess appears in four of them. And it is actually, um, novels by Lloyd, Alexander and. The Horn King. It doesn't give a, an occupation for her, but at one part in the movie, he calls her a scullery maid. So that seems to be the trend for these princesses. And then it did say up upon the reading nowhere in the movie that it's, Welsh. Although the,
NIck:the princesses Welsh
Joni:the storyline is Welch. However, I do have to say that if there's anyone Welsh listening that it does go on to say that it doesn't depict exact traits or personalities or different things like that, or accurate to the Welsh population. Okay? So it's just kind of an exaggerated thing. Ilon means dear and melody. And we is a suffix, often used in river names. So that's how they come up with her name. I loan we
NIck:Oh, okay. I didn't know where you were going with that. I was fine.
Joni:yeah, I know. Okay. I
NIck:That's how they came up with her
Joni:Yep. That's how they came up with her name. And then, um, she's, there's some sidekicks in here in the movie. Obviously there's the Terran. Is or Taren Rather, is the boy. Is the
NIck:He's the boy, okay.
Joni:He's the boy and he gets his hands on a magical sword. He is supposed to be protecting a pig named hen and he comes across, a little animal looking furry guy. His name is, gie and Feels.
NIck:his apple. That's how they first meet.
Joni:Yeah. So he's a little, he's a little obnoxious and he's a little naughty. And then,, they come across a heart plain, older man who is also a, asset into helping them do what they need to be doing to defeat this horned king. Her traits are brave, intelligent, strong-willed, affectionate, emotional, anxious, capable, resourceful, and magical. A little bit of more information is in the land of. Purine lowly pig herder Tarn dreams of becoming a gallian knight. He receives his heroic calling when the evil horned king kidnaps hen, because hen is supposed to have prophecies of where this cauldron can be located. This
NIck:the pig. This the pig is huge of this story. Yeah. The pig like knows or can see,
Joni:he can sense. Yes. Right. And so the, they're in hiding initially and the horned king's accomplices rather find him, right? Yeah. And they kidnap him and that he's being held by the horned king, being forced to give the information of where this black cauldron is located. So Tarn is supposed to be protecting hen he gets kidnapped. And now with the help of his furry sidekick Gie and Princess eOne Tarn must locate the magical black cauldron before the Horn King is able to use its mystical powers, despite being a princess. She is not part of the official Disney princess lineup due to the film's poor box office performance and darker tones.
NIck:Okay.
Joni:So, it is the first Disney animated film to receive a PG rating as well as being the first animated film to feature computer generated imagery. Really? Yeah.
NIck:I didn't know that.
Joni:So I wasn't,, gonna go a whole lot into detail about this. But, um, I did read that they, before airing this, they subjected, you know, they let a several or a handful of some children a test audience, and there were a lot of, pretty scared, children. So they cut. Some of the scenes out of
NIck:they did?
Joni:Yeah. So they did cut some out. And then the final product is obviously what we are able to see today. And I don't know that those are like locked away or if anybody's been able to see'em, but I'm, I'm kind of as an adult, like, what, what are they, what did they put in there? Like, I'm kind of curious about it. So, yeah. So needless to say, because of its darker tones and whatnot, she didn't make the hit list for, you know. Top princess, or even in the categories. So
NIck:I've never heard of her. Yeah. I had never heard of her. Me neither. And yeah, you said you had neither when we watched it.
Joni:Uhuh. So, but we did watch it the other night. I'd never seen it. Nick's never seen it? Nope. So there's
NIck:The, what's his name, the Horn King, was that his name?
Joni:Yeah. He
NIck:like Maleficent. He does.
Joni:And he has dragons.
NIck:And he has dragons. Yeah. He's got like Maleficent Dragons
Joni:And he has
NIck:this
Joni:Trollish looking
NIck:this little henchman guy. Yeah. He's very scared of him. Yeah. But you said that was 1985. It
Joni:like Elmo. Did I say he
NIck:yeah. When we were watching it, you're like, it sounds like Elmo
Joni:Yeah. It's very odd.
NIck:you said 1985,
Joni:excuse me.
NIck:1985 was the release.
Joni:Yes. July 24th, 1985.
NIck:Okay. So 1985 Disney released this and Little Mermaid was 1989. I believe so.
Joni:have that
NIck:So, I think so Disney went on a string of hits, I believe, starting with the Little Mermaid through the nineties. So. If you think about, they made this movie in 85 and it was a bomb. They obviously learned from it, and then they just put out a string of hits after that, you know, through the nineties. So that, that's interesting. It, yeah, when we watched it, it, it did not have the, a Disney cartoon vibe or feel to it at all. No,
Joni:no, it was not
NIck:at all. It's, it's a little different.
Joni:Well, they did use the darker tones, so, and that's definitely, displayed. I mean, it's still, I think it's still kitty friendly, but it's definitely not like you're Lion King or,
NIck:not Little Mermaid.
Joni:all of them have something that's villain saddened in a villain.
NIck:Okay. Well, the Black Cauldron
Joni:Black Cauldron
NIck:who we got up next week, do we know yet?
Joni:We do know. Do we wanna share? I don't wanna share.
NIck:You don't wanna share? Okay. We'll leave it as a surprise. Well, thank you. That was a lot of information on the Black Cauldron. I had never heard of it, I don't think, but I definitely never seen it. So it's on Disney Plus though, if you wanna watch it.
Joni:you watch it. Yep. So
NIck:So we're gonna go on to this week's tipper trick. This one is, I
Joni:I don't even know what this one is.
NIck:Yeah, I kinda left this. Yeah, I kind of, I'm gonna leave this as a surprise'cause I like, I like to get your reaction to some of these things. I think about this one involves, resort stays. Okay. Disney Deluxe Resorts and some of their, and their moderate resorts, you know, they can be expensive. Let's say that you had, you've always wanted to stay at Disney's Polynesian
Joni:okay,
NIck:or Animal Kingdom or pick a deluxe. Any deluxe you want Grand 40 and whatever you want.
Joni:And,
NIck:and it's very, you know, if you go on vacation, typically people go to Disney World, I think for seven days. Americans, you know, people in the United States, well Europe, you know, they tend to travel for two weeks or more, but let's just say seven days. And obviously that's expensive to stay at the Polynesian for seven days. What you can do is a split stay.
Joni:Mm-hmm.
NIck:You could stay, let's say seven days. We'll keep that seven day base stay. Four days or five days at an Allstar, and then use those other two days and move over to the Polynesian
Joni:two days. Yep. Oh, we, we do it.
NIck:So you get that deluxe that you've always wanted to stay at. Mm-hmm. And you know, you're only paying two nights for it. And the good thing about that is you can use your park days while you're staying an Allstar. So let's say you go to each park one day, you go to, you know, you go to Parks Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. And then move over to the Polynesian Thursday, Friday. You have two full resort days over
Joni:Mm-hmm. And the, cast members will move your luggage for
NIck:Bell Services will move your luggage for absolutely no charge. I, I mean, do tip them because,
Joni:please tip. It is,
NIck:it's work. So, but yeah, that's just a way to, you can stay in a deluxe. You can say, you know, I've always wanted to stay at the Polynesian. It's just so expensive, or whatever resort. So just, just split it up like that. I mean, that way, you know, you get to stay there, but not for the full week.
Joni:Yeah. Well that's what we're doing. Yeah.
NIck:That's what we did. Yeah.
Joni:We're, well, we've done it and we're going to
NIck:it. Right. But we use points, which is, you know, a little different, but like cash wise, you know,'cause the Polynesian, I'm using that as an example'cause that's a very popular place. People are stay and it's, it's pretty expensive for a night. So yeah, that's, even if you wanna do a moderate resort, you know, like Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans Riverside or whatever,
Joni:just think
NIck:think about it, you know?
Joni:Yeah, I think it's, I think it's interesting because then,, I know some people might view as a hassle, especially if you got littles or lots of people, but you know, if you're going solo or if it's just you and your spouse or significant other, or a best friend or you, there's just a few of you, whatever. I like the experience of staying different places because then you get to kind of venture out
NIck:Mm-hmm.
Joni:get to, you know.
NIck:They all have
Joni:Observe the property. You get to observe the food. Taste a little bit of this, taste a little bit.
NIck:pools. Yeah. The, the splash pads or whatever they may have at the resort. And like we said last week, all resorts have their resort specific activities to do so.
Joni:so
NIck:yeah. You know, it's just a thought. You know, people say, well, I would love to stay, you know, at resort. Whatever, fill in that blank. But I just, it's so expensive. Well consider doing a split stay. Yeah. And you could just do a night or two.
Joni:Yeah, exactly.
NIck:exactly. So that's my tip on money saving ideas to stay at a deluxe resort. Just to split it up.
Joni:Yeah. You don't have to stay your whole time.
